Because C.Y.P.B. is aged exclusively on the highest floors of Buffalo Trace’s metal-clad warehouses, every drop is shaped by some of the most intense conditions in bourbon making. Up top, there’s nowhere for the heat to hide. During the hot Kentucky summers, temperatures soar, the metal exterior amplifies the warmth, and that heat rises straight through the ricks, driving the whiskey deep into the charred oak staves. This “hyper-maturation” doesn’t just speed up the aging process; it transforms it.

On these top floors, C.Y.P.B. is constantly expanding into and retreating from the wood as temperatures swing from sweltering days to cooler nights. With every cycle, the liquid pulls out more of the barrel’s hidden character—vanilla from the lignin, caramel and toffee from the toasted sugars, and subtle spice from the oak itself. Over time, this creates a bourbon with heightened complexity: richer layers of flavor, a fuller mouthfeel, and an aromatic profile that simply can’t be replicated in more mild, lower-floor conditions.

This is the top-floor terroir of Buffalo Trace—an environment where the elements are turned up to ten, and where C.Y.P.B. develops its bold yet refined personality. Tasting Profile:

• Nose: Incredibly sweet and welcoming. It bursts with campfire s’mores, toasted marshmallow, and buttery toffee, layered under bright fruit notes of cherry pie, grape jelly, and vanilla custard.

• Palate: Silky, oily, and soft on the tongue. It leads with a distinct chocolate-toffee sweetness (reminiscent of a Tootsie Roll), backed by vanilla bean, light oak structure, and an unusual, pleasant hint of fresh blueberries.

• Finish: Medium-light and clean. The ethanol burn is nonexistent, leaving a gentle trailing warmth of caramelized sugars, soft baking spice, and lingering dark fruit.
