Description
The Whisky:
- Domestic Release: Macallan Harmony Collection Amber Meadow was a domestic market release, unlike its counterpart, “Green Meadow,” which was a travel retail exclusive.
- Inspiration: The whisky was inspired by the McCartney sisters’ memories of summer days in the amber fields of the Scottish countryside. The whisky maker sought to create a single malt reminiscent of warm meadows and mature barley fields.
- Cask Selection: This single malt, bottled at 44.2% ABV, was matured in a combination of sherry-seasoned oak and bourbon casks. The casks were chosen to evoke notes of rich citrus, vanilla, and honeysuckle.
Tasting Notes:
- Colour: A warm, natural amber.
- Nose: Rich orange and lemon zest, with notes of honeysuckle, vanilla, coconut, and the wholesome aroma of ripe barley fields.
- Palate: A full-bodied and well-balanced palate with robust oak, sweet citrus of lemon and melon, and a creamy, scone-like quality, with hints of almond and green tea.
- Finish: A long, rich, and sweet finish with lingering complexity.
Packaging:
A key feature of the Harmony Collection is its sustainable packaging. The presentation box and bottle labels for Macallan Harmony Collection Amber Meadow are made from discarded meadow cuttings, giving new life to these natural by-products.
