Maturation Process: The Macallan Concept No 1 is distinguished by its unique maturation process. The whisky was first aged in sherry-seasoned oak casks and then transferred for an equal amount of time into ex-bourbon casks. This unconventional approach aims to create a new sensory experience.

Inspiration: The release was inspired by surrealist art, a theme that is reflected in its distinctive packaging.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Expect notes of sweet butterscotch, toffee, almond, ginger, cinnamon, and hints of dried fruit, citrus, and green banana.

Palate: The taste is characterized by sweet orange and lemon citrus, with soft oak spices, fresh fruit, and ginger.

Finish: It has a medium, sweet, and dry finish with lingering notes of oak, citrus, and ginger.

Bottling: The Macallan Concept No 1 is bottled at 40% ABV. A total of 84,000 bottles were produced.

The Macallan Concept Series continued with Concept No. 2 (inspired by music) and Concept No. 3 (a collaboration with graphic designer David Carson), all of which are now considered collectible items.
