Cask Maturation: The Macallan Classic Cut 2020 was a departure from previous releases in the series, as it was the first to incorporate ex-bourbon American oak casks in addition to the traditional sherry-seasoned European oak casks that are a hallmark of The Macallan. This blending of cask types was intended to create a more complex and balanced flavour profile.

Alcohol by Volume (ABV): This release is bottled at 55% ABV, a strength carefully chosen by the whisky maker to highlight its rich character.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Expect aromas of vanilla, candied orange peel, honey, and a hint of sultana and raisin, with a backdrop of fresh oak and thyme.

Palate: The taste is characterized by a warmth of ginger, sweet orange, vanilla, and honey, all balanced by a fresh, vibrant oak.

Finish: It has a sweet and “zingy” finish that lingers with notes of fresh thyme.

Colour: The whisky has a sunlit straw colour, which is natural and a reflection of the cask influence.
