📝 Tasting Notes
With a high proportion of ex-Bourbon casks, Kilkerran Heavily Peated Batch 12 allows the sweet, vanilla-forward notes to mingle with the robust, earthy Campbeltown smoke and unique Campbeltown “funk.”
Nose: Opens with rich, creamy sweetness: butterscotch and caramel notes, transitioning into hints of rye bread and delicate tea leaf. The smoke is present but balances the creamy undertone.
Palate: Oily and full-bodied mouthfeel is immediately apparent, carrying the smokiness and sweet notes. Tastes of Iberico ham (a savoury, meaty note), brandy snaps (a sweet, caramel brittle), and mixed orchard fruits (peaches, pears) layered over soot and warm embers.
Finish: Long, gentle, and complex. Notes of lemon sherbet, honeycomb, and mint emerge, with the earthy, lingering peat smoke carrying right through to the end.
Kilkerran Heavily Peated Batch 12 is noted for being a very successful blend of sweetness and soot, offering a powerful yet perfectly balanced Campbeltown peat experience.
