Description

Penderyn Icons Of Wales No 14 The Village

 The Story: Portmeirion Centenary

“The Village” honors the 100th anniversary of Portmeirion (1926–2026), the enchanting Italianate village on the coast of North Wales. Designed by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, the village is famous for its surreal architecture and as the filming location for the 1960s cult TV series The Prisoner.

The packaging is particularly special, featuring an intricate decoupage box and a matte white, embossed bottle that mirrors the whimsical, artistic spirit of Portmeirion’s buildings.

? Tasting Notes

The Amarone casks provide a “gentle indulgence,” adding rich, dark wine notes to the bright Penderyn spirit.

  • Nose: Ripe red fruits and honeyed malt. There are underlying whispers of vanilla, cocoa, and a light floral lift.

  • Palate: Velvety and full-bodied. It opens with red berries and plum compote, balanced by a mellow honeyed sweetness and soft baking spices.

  • Finish: Long and warming. It leaves a lingering trail of candied fruit, spiced oak, and a subtle “grip” of grape tannins from the wine wood.
