Penderyn Yma O Hyd Icons Of Wales No 10
£41.00
Penderyn Yma O Hyd is the 10th release in the acclaimed Icons of Wales series. Launched in late 2022, it was created in partnership with the Football Association of Wales (FAW) to celebrate Wales reaching the FIFA World Cup for the first time in 64 years.
The name, pronounced “Umma Oh Heed”, translates to “We’re Still Here.” It refers to the famous 1983 protest song by Dafydd Iwan, which has become the unofficial anthem of the “Red Wall” (Welsh football supporters).

Description
Penderyn Yma O Hyd
The Cask Strategy: American Rye
What makes Yma O Hyd unique compared to the rest of the Penderyn range is its maturation. While Penderyn is famous for its Madeira cask finish, this edition was matured exclusively in ex-American Rye Whiskey casks.
The Rye casks provide a distinct “spicy” backbone that contrasts beautifully with the naturally light and fruity spirit produced by Penderyn’s unique Faraday single-copper pot still.
Tasting Notes
| Feature | Description |
| Nose | Fragrant and floral. Notes of baking spices (nutmeg, cinnamon), toffee, and cooked orchard fruits like baked apples and pears. |
| Palate | Smooth and sweet. The rye influence brings a peppery heat, balanced by caramel, sultanas, and a hint of ginger and cloves. |
| Finish | Medium-length. A lingering caramel sweetness transitions into herbal notes and a clean, oaky spice. |
