Tasting Notes

Glenrothes Cask No 10 is often noted for being “perfectly balanced” between the honeyed distillery character and the spicy red wine influence.

Nose: A “dessert-like” bouquet. Notes of Manuka honey, condensed milk, and marshmallow. There is a distinct creamy scent similar to honeycomb ice cream or Crème brûlée.

Palate: Thick and smooth. It starts with stewed orchard fruits (pears/apples) and vanilla, which then opens up into the wine influence: strawberry, blueberry, and a hint of dark chocolate.

Finish: Deceptive at first; it starts soft but then “surges” with warmth, bringing forward nutmeg, wood spice, and lingering toffee.

Recommendation

If you are planning to open this bottle, it is a high-proof dram that benefits significantly from 15 minutes of resting in the glass. This allows the intense wine tannins to soften and the more delicate floral/honey notes of the 1992 spirit to emerge.
