The Glenallachie Sinteis Series Part One the 11 Year Old Chinquapin, is the inaugural release in a new experimental series from the distillery.

Cask Maturation: This whisky is a blend of spirits from two different cask types:

First-fill Pedro Ximénez (PX) sherry puncheons: These casks contribute rich, dark fruit, and chocolate notes.

Virgin Chinquapin American oak barrels: Chinquapin oak is a species native to North America (specifically the Ozarks in Missouri). It’s known for imparting bold spice, vanilla, and nutty characteristics.

ABV: Bottled at a robust cask strength of 57.8% ABV.

The whisky is bottled with natural color and is non-chill filtered, ensuring the full flavour and character of the spirit are retained.

Tasting Notes :

Nose: A complex and inviting aroma that combines the sweetness of the PX sherry with the spice of the Chinquapin oak. Look for notes of liquorice, butterscotch, grilled honeycomb, and candied orchard fruits, all complemented by hints of cocoa and treacle tart.

Palate: A thick, full-bodied mouthfeel with a powerful interplay of flavours. Expect notes of ginger, butterscotch, and candied lemon slices, followed by rich fig jam, blackberries, and molasses. The spice from the Chinquapin oak is balanced by a rich, sweet cocoa and cinnamon.

Finish: A long, warming, and gently drying finish with lingering notes of sherry-soaked fruitcake, soft oak spice, and a final flourish of vanilla.

Glenallachie Sinteis Series Part One is a showcase of Master Distiller Billy Walker’s innovative cask management, creating a bold and flavourful whisky that is a departure from the distillery’s more traditional sherry-forward expressions.
