The Bowmore 21 Year Old Aston Martin Masters’ Selection is all about the golden ratio, but the most important is that 61.8% of this premium Scotch whisky has matured for at least 21 years in first-fill PX and Oloroso sherry casks. The remaining parts includes some Bowmore matured for over 35 years.

Release Date: The whisky was released in late 2021.

Proof: It was bottled at 51.8% ABV (103.6 proof). This is a higher proof than the standard Bowmore releases.

Cask Maturation: The whisky was matured for 21 years in a combination of carefully selected casks. For this initial release, the focus was on a combination of Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry casks, along with Tawny Port and American Oak casks. This blend of casks was chosen to create a whisky with a balance of sweetness, fruit, and Bowmore’s signature subtle peat smoke.

Tasting Notes :

Nose: Expect a complex and rich aroma. The official notes highlight sweet and nutty notes, with Manuka honey, maple syrup, praline, and grilled hazelnuts. Reviewers often mention a beautiful combination of freshly tanned leather, cigar tobacco, and a hint of Islay peat smoke.

Palate: The palate is described as richly elegant and layered. The sherry influence is prominent, with notes of dried fruit, bitter dark chocolate, and black pepper. The classic Bowmore peat smoke is present but is well-integrated with sweeter notes of vanilla, coffee beans, and a fruity touch of Morello cherries and papaya.

Finish: The finish is long, sweet, and warming, with lingering notes of oak spices, chestnut cream, and a whisper of coconut.

The Bowmore 21 Year Old Aston Martin 2021 release was a significant event for both brands and quickly became a collector’s item.
