Bimber Wimbledon release is part of “The Spirit of the Underground Collection” (Release No. 6): Wimbledon station is one of four stations featured in Release No. 6 of this popular series, which also included Oval, Stratford, and Wembley Park. This particular release focused on stations connected to revered sporting locations, celebrating both the history of the London Underground and significant sporting excellence.

• Single Cask Release: Like most whiskies in this collection, the Wimbledon expression is a single cask bottling, meaning the entire batch comes from one unique cask. This ensures a distinct and limited profile. For instance, the Wimbledon release is from Cask #310/5.
• Vino de Naranja Cask Double Maturation: This is a very interesting and unique aspect of the Wimbledon release. It’s described as a “double maturation” or “finished” whisky:
  • It was initially matured in American oak.
  • It then spent a significant period (over 3 years) finishing in a Vino de Naranja cask. Vino de Naranja (Orange Wine) is a fortified wine from Spain, made by macerating orange peels in wine, lending a distinct citrusy and aromatic character. This cask type is quite rare in whisky maturation.
• High ABV & Limited Bottles:
  • It’s bottled at 56.6% ABV, typical of Bimber’s cask strength single cask releases.
  • Only 298 bottles were released from Cask #310/5, making it highly exclusive.
• London-Made Whisky: As with all Bimber whiskies, Bimber Wimbledon is produced entirely at their distillery in Park Royal, West London. They are known for their “farm-to-bottle” approach, using single-farm barley, traditional floor malting, and bespoke stills designed to create a rich, fruit-forward spirit.

• Nose: A lovely sweetness with prominent notes of raisins, dates, and ripe oranges. You might also find hints of chocolate pralines, a touch of eucalyptus, vanilla, and apple compote. Preserved oranges and blood oranges are frequently mentioned.
• Palate: An oily mouthfeel is a consistent characteristic of Bimber. The taste is very orange-y, with sweet caramel, honeycomb, and rich orange flavors. Vanilla, Werther’s Original (caramel candy), and soft oak spices often linger.
• Finish: Medium length, with a continuation of the sweet orange, caramel, and a gentle spicy warmth.
