TheAberfeldy 12 Year Old Madeira Cask Finish is a refined Travel Retail exclusive designed to elevate the distillery’s signature “Golden Dram” profile. By introducing Portuguese Madeira wine casks into the process, Malt Master Stephanie Macleod has added a layer of sun-drenched fruit and exotic spice to the classic honeyed Highland malt.
🥃 Tasting Profile: “The Honeyed Wine”
Madeira wine is known for its oxidized, nutty, and sweet characteristics, which pair naturally with Aberfeldy’s “Golden Dram” style.
Nose: Dominant notes of classic Aberfeldy honey and vanilla, layered with dried apricots, poached pears, and a hint of roasted hazelnuts.
Palate: Syrupy and smooth. You’ll find fudge and orange zest up front, moving into “rum and raisin” ice cream and soft baking spices (cinnamon and clove).
Finish: Short to medium. It leaves a light citrus zest and a very faint “whisper” of smoke, which is common in Aberfeldy but rarely overwhelming.
