Tasting Notes
The Hakushu 12 Year Old 100th Anniversary is known for its “fresh and gentle smoky” profile, which is achieved by using a combination of lightly-peated and heavily-peated malts, and by leveraging the pure, soft water of the Southern Japanese Alps.
Nose: Fresh and herbaceous, with notes of basil, pine needles, and green apple. There’s a subtle hint of smoke and toasted barley.
Palate: The palate is clean and balanced, with flavours of sweet pear, mint, and kiwi. A delicate, wafting smoke appears, along with herbal and grassy notes.
Finish: The finish is described as long and satisfying, with lingering notes of green tea, subtle smoke, and a touch of sweetness.
