Historic Rosebank whisky was produced using triple distillation in copper pot stills, a method that helped create a light, refined and aromatic spirit. However, Rosebank also employed traditional worm-tub condensers, which could retain additional weight, texture and complexity.

This unusual combination gave the whisky its distinctive personality. The spirit could be delicate, grassy and floral on the nose while displaying more substance and structure on the palate than its elegant aroma initially suggested. That contrast is one reason Rosebank became so highly regarded among whisky enthusiasts.

Tasting Profile

Appearance: Pale gold with bright straw-coloured highlights.

Nose: Light, fresh and aromatic, with delicate floral notes accompanied by lemon peel, green apple and freshly cut grass. Hints of soft malt, herbs, honey and vanilla emerge with time, adding depth to the whisky’s graceful Lowland character.

Palate: Smooth and gently textured, opening with citrus, orchard fruit and sweet malt. Lemon, crisp apple and subtle honey are joined by white pepper, dried herbs and restrained oak. Despite its delicate style, the palate has an unexpected firmness and complexity.

Finish: Clean, elegant and gently drying, with lingering citrus, soft florals, grassy malt and a touch of peppery spice.

The Flora & Fauna Collection

The Flora & Fauna range occupies an important place in modern Scotch whisky history. It brought attention to distilleries whose output had traditionally been used primarily in blends and was seldom released as an official single malt.
