The Macallan 15 Year Old Colour Collection is part of The Macallan’s travel retail-exclusive Colour Collection, introduced in late 2023 to celebrate two defining elements of the distillery’s identity: 100% natural colour and the remarkable influence of sherry-seasoned oak casks.

Matured in a combination of American oak casks with subtler European oak influence, all seasoned with Oloroso sherry from Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, this 15-year-old expression highlights the depth, elegance, and complexity that careful cask selection brings to The Macallan’s signature style. Positioned in the middle of the range, it displays a natural beech wood to light amber hue, reflecting the way colour deepens naturally with age in sherry-seasoned oak.

Bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl format, this release combines visual appeal with classic Macallan character, while the wider collection’s packaging – designed in collaboration with renowned graphic artist David Carson – adds a distinctive contemporary edge. Tasting Notes:

Compared with the darker, fruit-led European oak style often associated with classic Macallan, The Macallan 15 Year Old Colour Collection leans lighter, creamier, and more citrus-forward, with the strong influence of American oak bringing added softness and freshness.

Nose: Soft tropical fruits lead the way, with notes of pineapple, light coconut, and citrus peel, followed by vanilla custard, floral honey, and a subtle touch of cocoa.

Palate:Medium-bodied and velvety, opening with baked peach, orange oil, toffee, and vanilla icing sugar. Gentle oak spice, nutmeg, and light butterscotch add balance and depth without overwhelming the whisky’s elegance.

Finish: Medium in length, clean, and warming, with lingering impressions of toasted oak, sweet black tea, and soft vanilla.
