Named after the 19th-century whiskey baron who built the distillery into a powerhouse, George T. Stagg has one uncompromising philosophy: nothing added, nothing taken away. The 2024 edition was distilled between autumn 2008 and spring 2009, then left to face fifteen brutal Kentucky summers and winters in Buffalo Trace’s rickhouses. After 15 years and two months of maturation, it was bottled exactly as it came from the barrel — uncut, unfiltered, and untamed at a monumental 68.1% ABV (136.2 proof).
The result is bourbon at its absolute summit. Expect a dense, dark avalanche of flavour: black cherry and dried fig soaked in molasses, dark chocolate and espresso, tobacco leaf, cinnamon fire and deeply charred oak, all carried on a viscous, palate-coating body that only long ageing at full proof can build. George T. Stagg (2024 Release) is the powerhouse crown jewel of Buffalo Trace Distillery’s annualBuffalo Trace Antique Collection (BTAC). Renowned for its bold, uncut, and unfiltered cask-strength profile, the 2024 edition returned to classic GTS form—heavy on dense dark fruit, deep oak, and rich caramel sweetness.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Explosive and fragrant. Rich black cherry cola, dark molasses, butterscotch, and crème brûlée integrated with seasoned oak tannins, tobacco leaf, and warm baking spices.
Palate: Full-bodied, syrupy, and viscous. Intensely concentrated flavors of dark fruit, brown sugar, cocoa nibs, cinnamon sticks, and charred oak balance out the intense heat.
